Tek Open Water DPV Instructor (OC, Rebreather)

This Program is designed to develop qualified instructors in the necessary procedures, knowledge and skills to

safely provide training in the use of Diver Propulsion Vehicles (DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE’s) in Technical Open Water Diving. The purpose of this course is to expose divers to conservation concerns and ethical responsibilities that present themselves during DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE use either for touring, or exploration.

Which program an IANTD Tek OW DPV Instructor can teach?

  • IANTD Tek OW DPV Diver plus any other program previously qualified to teach.

What do you need to enroll in this program?

  • Open Circuit - Must be qualified as an:
    1. Must be qualified as an IANTD Advanced EANx Instructor or higher.
    2. Must be qualified as an IANTD Tek OW DPV Diver or equivalent.
  • Dive Experience
    • Must provide proof of a minimum of 150 logged dives, including at least 40 dives using DPVs.
  • Rebreather - Must be qualified as an:
    • Must be qualified as an IANTD Rebreather Instructor or higher.
    • Must be qualified as an IANTD Rebreather DPV Diver or equivalent.
  • Dive Experience
    • Must provide proof of a minimum of 150 logged rebreather dives, including at least 40 dives using DPVs.

What is the minimum materials requirements?

  • Open Circuit - IANTD Tek Lite OC Instructor Kit.
  • Rebreather - IANTD CCR Instructor Kit.

  • Academic Sessions
  • Confined Water Sessions
  • Open Water Sessions

A International Association of Nitrox & Technical Divers foi fundada em 1985 para atender às necessidades de muitos mergulhadores. Nessa época o uso de misturas gasosas para o mergulho e gases de descompresão estava limitado, oficialmente, aos militares e aos mergulhadores comerciais.
Em 1985 Dick Rutkowski aposentou-se do cargo de supervisor de mergulho da National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) e, juntamente com outros líderes da comunidade de mergulho, fundou a International Association of Nitrox Divers. O objetivo era apresentar os benefícios do Nitrox para diversos cenários de mergulho e ensinar o seu uso seguro em mergulhos recreativos e descompressivos.
Em 1992 sob a liderença de Tom Mount, a organização cresceu para se tornar a principal agência de treinamento de mergulho técnico do mundo, oferecendo cursos sobre todos os aspectos do mergulho esportivo. O nome foi então mudado para International Association of Nitrox & Technical Divers, IANTD, para melhor refletir a ênfase no mergulho técnico
